I got to read the Ouran High School Host Club manga last month, and I’ve been wanting to draw fanart. So when I read the dA news post about the valentine’s event I couldn’t resist drawing Tamaki. |D Plus I want to get better at drawing him, he’s really hard to draw for some reason…. I hope he looks alright.

It’s her character, Raven, from her and Kagomekylah’s webcomic, High School’s a Nightmare. c: She’s on a swing~

I drew and coloured this in ArtRage Studio Pro too, using the watercolour brush and some other tools. I wanted to try and use the colours more like you would acrylic, so they’d be brighter, darker, and less pale. c: I don’t know how well I succeeded. I need more practice~ ;o; I also struggled because for my picture before, all the colours for the characters were pretty much set, I didn’t need to decide much beside the shading and background. But this one, I had to choose each colour, and it’s a bit harder to go back and edit one specific colour in ArtRage than Photoshop. Oh well!

I wasn’t expecting to draw Sword Art Online fanart so soon.. but I heard the first OP for it, and then got this idea, so I just went with it LOL
I really loved the first arc of the series, it was very sweet (especially compared to the second arc… not gonna continue after that OTL). So I wanted to make something happy (or even nostalgic), based off of it. :3

To be honest, I like how Yui (the little girl) turned out best. Though I also like Asuna (brown hair). Not too sure about Kirito (the darkly dressed guy), though the folds in his clothing turned out alright. XD;;
“Kazoku” should mean family in Japanese~

Mom found some watercolour tutorials on youtube for the ArtRage program I mentioned before, and I’m finding it a bit on the addictive side. I love how it looks and feels! I almost couldn’t stop working on my picture yesterday, I was having so much fun… it’s been a while since I really had a day like that. XD
I’m surprised this program isn’t more popular… it’s not all that expensive, but it’s really good. (I would recommend looking up tutorials on youtube if you’re interested in it)

And just to show you guys how it REALLY looks like watercolour… I has detail shots for everybody <3
Though I probably picked some boring spots haha… OTL

While I’m starting to learn how to use the program, I still need to figure out my own “watercolour” style, so you’ll probably see a lot more paintings like this in the future as I try and figure it out. :3 Apparently, there’s also a “brush” for felt markers (like… copics!) that I still need to try out, too.

The theme this time was “Warrior”.
This was my only entry this year (not including the three or so failed attempts 8P), but I worked really hard on it, tried to keep a balance of everything, and did a lot of research for it.

The outfit isn’t as detailed or imaginative as some were, there’s some things for it could be considered quite simple, but I tried to make up for it in other ways, such as: adding the pattern on the kimono, details in the folds and hair, just a little bit of perspective, etc. It ended up complicated in it’s own way.

Like last year, I tried to take inspiration from the shonen genre, and made her into a feisty girl who could actually protect herself and others on any adventures~
I gave her long hair and the almost-flowery pattern on her kimono so she wouldn’t be TOO boyish. :3

I also tried really hard to make it something that I could be proud of, so for the most part the line art and colour is nice and clean up close. Last year, I rushed it and it was messy by my own standards. >w<;; Though I didn't really enjoy working in CMYK, so I think I'll stick to RGB when I can. |D;; But anyway, thank you so much everyone. <33 ;w; To the Ai-kon committee, my family, my friends, and everybody else too. A little while back, we got a bird feeder. I’ve really been enjoying it. ^^ I haven’t identified all the birds that usually come, but one of them is a favourite of mine~ The chickadee.

I’ve been wanting to make another bird-like fairy again, but never had the idea. Thanks to the feeder, I remembered that I had wanted a chickadee-themed character back when I was on neopets. So I did this little chibi~

So yeah. She’s not really supposed to BE a chickadee… her wings and everything aren’t quite right, shape-wise. Her colours also look a bit off now that I look at it. But I still kinda like her. I hope you do, too. ^^

Another headshot drawing I did for Ai-kon, this time of the beloved Sailor Moon~

I would have loved to do a much more serious fan art, but I remember next to nothing of the series, despite how much I loved it as a child. The library got two of the new manga volumes in, but.. it was volume 2 and 3. No volume 1. So I was really lost LOL
Anyway… I didn’t want to accidentally do some fancy picture and do the series a huge injustice. So I kept it simple.
I will definitely do something more in the future, though *w*

Not to say I didn’t try hard on this, though. XD Like my Rin Okumura headshot, I kept the lines and colouring tidy. Though it probably sounds odd, but I put extra effort into her eyes, too. I think I had the most fun with them and the gems. C:

sjdhasdjh I don’t ship Crona and Maka romantically. I adore them as friends. While rewatching Fruits Basket with my sister, I decided I definitely like this ship. Of course, Yuki and Tohru are cute too ashdjasdjsa. Sorry if your favourite pairing isn't here... UUUUUUUUGH, I feel like a zombie today. Stupid weather…
Anyway, taking a break from my convention goodies to post a traditional picture I did last week~~

It’s of my original character, Slade. I originally started it because I wanted to use one of my new copic colours, B79 (AKA: Iris). Then it progressed and turned into this. o3o

The flowers are supposed to be irises. The butterflies are supposed to be Spicebush Swallowtails (papilo troilus). I don’t feel like I succeeded with either… and the picture generally looks better on paper, but I can’t figure out why. T_T I like how her hair and dress turned out, though.
