…Whoa, this is one of the girliest things I’ve ever drawn… @_@
Be sure to enjoy it because pictures like this are a rarity from me~ x3

I think Epic has basically switched over to decora fashion/fairy kei. It’s such an adorable style!
Hmm. She probably wears other fashions too, but this seems to be all I draw her in anymore. XD;

I’ve wanted to draw her with a box of yummy looking donuts since earlier this year, so I’m glad I finally got the chance. I wish I could’ve drawn it before Ai-kon though. e-e Ah well.

My favourite parts are probably her skirt, hair and the donuts. I drew it with my sister Siobhan in mind because she’s so adorable and likes cute things, so this is partially dedicated to and inspired by her. x3 Also, this was completely drawn in Manga Studio!

Thanks for looking everybody! <3

I’m participating in the Melon Berry Tea 2015 Artbook!

{ Click here to visit the MBT site and donate. }

Melon Berry Tea is an artbook dedicated to artists, so that fans can donate and artists can earn money to put towards whatever it is they need (I’m putting any donations I receive towards post-secondary education). The donation period is open until October 31st 2014.

Want more info? Click here for more information about the book, why you should donate and a sketch preview of my artbook entry. You can also click here for a cleaned up preview of my entry. Thanks!

Melon Berry Tea is now hosting a contest, where the prize is your entry to the contest having a full page feature in the art book! Isn’t that awesome? : D Read the journal and rules here if you’re interested in participating!!

Thanks!!

MBT 2015 Preview (Donations Now Open!)

29 July 2014

Hey everybody, how are you? :D
I’d like to announce that I’ve been given the opportunity to participate in whispwill’s
Melon Berry Tea “Summer Showers” art book, and this is the coloured sketch I drew for the book!! It’s inspired by my love for faeries and some nature I was familiar with in my childhood. <3 The donation page is now live, so if you could check it out and possibly donate I would greatly appreciate it!!

Click here to visit the Melon Berry Tea donation page!

Want to learn more? Read below!

Melon Berry Tea is an annual art book hosted and produced by Whispwill. All the money that’s donated goes directly towards the artists that drew the artwork for said book. There’s nothing received for donating to an artist, but it’s an easy way to offer support to your favourite artist or up-and-coming artists, as there is no minimum or maximum amount you must donate. The donation period started on July 27th 2014 and lasts until October 31st 2014 to donate. After that the artbook will be prepared for printing so that it can be bought!

As the donation page says, there is a tier for each artist. I suppose the main goal would be to earn $100. This basically covers the cost of making the full page illustration each artist does.
Once an artist reached $120, they get a personal page about them in the artbook. If they reach $200, they can create a clear plastic card to be released with the book (limited edition version?). If they reach $250, they will be asked to draw a tutorial/walkthrough to be put in the book!

And like I said on the donation page, I will be putting any funding I receive towards post-secondary education, specifically business courses, so that I can learn how to run a business selling my artwork. Many people can rely on jobs like working at a fast food restaurant to pay for their groceries and bills. But due to my health, I wouldn’t be able to get a job like that, no matter how much I wanted OR needed to. Since I can’t rely on finding jobs that won’t make me sick, I’m going to make one, and business courses will surely help with that!

If you happen to be interested in helping me out, my artwork is currently in the second row (the faerie/pond) listed underneath the name “Sloan”. Just mouse over the artwork and you can donate!

Thanks for reading, and have a great day!!

Art-related update: You can now see some progress I’ve made on the finished picture. It’s still unfinished, but click here if you’d like to see!.

Spring Evening

16 March 2014

I sketched this in December, then last month I just… needed to do something so I finished it. I didn’t feel like doing line art though so I skipped it. She’s some sort of mori deer girl making flower crowns. .3. I should almost make a mori category for my blog haha.

I think I like how her dress looks best, especially the layering at the bottom.

Thanks for looking, and hope you had a great weekend!

Guide

8 March 2014

Guiding light…
You’re able to light my path,
and show me where I am
But I wish you could
show me what to do,
where to go,
and tell me
what to
say,
too
.

We started using our wood burning stove to heat the house again recently. It has it’s ups and downs, but seeing the embers in the fireplace really inspired me to draw them~

I’ll admit though, when I started drawing this last night I didn’t intend to draw something with fire, I was actually planning on doodling Rikka from Love, Chuunibyou, and Other Delusions, but I changed my mind after a short while. Also, this new picture reminds me a little of this really old picture of mine… they’re not really similar, but they’re technically of the same character. Ah, improvement~

I originally sketched, line-arted and base-coloured this in ArtRage 4, then cleaned it up in Photoshop.

Thanks for looking, and have a great weekend!

Edit (several hours later): I looked at this again and saw that it was severely blue, out of curiosity I decided to look at it on my sister’s computer and it looked even WORSE… I know it can’t look good on every single computer, but that was just.. ew. So I just edited it a bit. There’s very little blue now and it’s a lot darker. Hopefully you guys like the edit too. x3

“Sorry, can’t hear you…”

21 February 2014

…because I’m listening to music instead! ♫”

At first I wanted to draw a girl in a shirt with that cat face on it, but it turned into a kinda sassy looking Gwin. 。^‿^。 I’m not sure how clear her pose is though, she’s supposed to be pointing to an ear bud, signalling that she can’t hear anything else. So yeah, it’s not perfect, and the anatomy looks off (though I THINK that’s mostly because of the sleeves…) but I’m happy enough with it. ^^;

On another note, I listened to a lot of music while drawing this but the song I listened to the most was an awesome cover of “Stereo Hearts”, I’m not familiar with the original version but a friend linked me to that, and it inspires me to draw Gwin~

Thanks for looking, and have a great weekend! \(^▽^)/

Little Leaf (sketch)

31 January 2014

Something a little more spring-y, I drew it at the same time as my “Dear Winter;” mori sketch I posted earlier. It was drawn with an ordinary pencil, but when I was editing it in Photoshop, I made it green and think it looks really nice.

Hmm, she reminds me of Homura (“Moemura” version…) from Madoka Magica, but there’s no connection. I just wanted to draw a mori girl with glasses I think. u_u lol

Dear Winter; (sketch)

28 January 2014

“Dear Winter”… get it? ‘Cause she’s a deer?
orz

Something I drew in December I believe? I’m not too sure, but it’s slightly more recent than some of my sketches lol. And yes, the branches were drawn on one side and copied/pasted to the other side. I had drawn them properly on both sides, but it became really dark and blurry in the scan, so I figured “meh, it’s just a sketch, I’ll just do a quick fix…”

Also, I thought we’d be free of hawks in the winter for some odd reason, but yesterday I saw a red tailed hawk in our backyard. Got a picture to help identify it/prove it was here but it’s not really good enough to upload. Hopefully this hawk doesn’t stick around long. :I

Majestic

31 December 2013

Edit 5/31/2014: I should have updated this description sooner, but on May 24th this received a Daily Deviation on DeviantART! You can view the Daily Deviation here and my dA journal about it here. Thank you for the support!!

– – – – – –

For a while now, I’ve found owls not only intriguing, but a bit terrifying too (which for some odd reason, just makes me more intrigued >_>)
There’s so much culture and so many myths surrounding them. They look so unique, and there’s a lot of variations in their appearance, from small and cute to huge and scary. It’s neat in the summer when we’re sitting outside and can hear some sort of owl. Sometimes they look like they’re more like mammals than birds, mainly because they’re so expressive. Their expressions seem so… human… compared to other birds.
The cute cartoony owls we see today are adorable, but somehow they just don’t compare to the real thing.

Somehow this led to me drawing Slade with a Snowy Owl (Bubo scandiacus). There’s very little reasoning as to why the snowy owl in particular, other than they’re both white with yellow/orange eyes (though I temporarily changed Slade’s eyes to match the owl’s even more). In some of Slade’s first incarnations, she was a majestic predator that lived in darkness. So I dunno, it just seemed to fit.

I kind of imagine that in the picture, they’re not friends or enemies; they simply relate to and respect each other, and that’s why they’re so close? Lol idk. ;_;

I probably drew some things wrong. I should have picked one photo or so to reference for the owl, but I didn’t. Instead I mostly eyeballed bits and pieces (“the eyes are this shape…” “the body looks a little like this, but I’ll draw from another angle…”, etc) of many photos. Its legs in particular are probably incorrect, but I’m not sure.

Overall, I’m happy with the result, and I think this will be a nice last upload of 2013. ^^
Here’s hoping 2014 is an awesome year for everybody, full of good health, happiness, and inspiration~!! <3 Thanks for looking!

Mori sketch (01)

25 November 2013

This is a mori fashion drawing I sketched back in August, when my obsession was really starting…
Hmmm not much else I can say at the moment, but thanks for looking! ^^

Courage. (+video)

12 November 2013

Time lapse videos: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
You can view this image on DeviantART here.

Started doodling a random mori girl one night and then this came about. (Can you tell I’m a little mori obsessed? :P) I took a little bit of inspiration from art nouveau, though it’s probably far from perfect in that aspect. I struggled a lot with the girl’s face, and there’s something about it now that kind of bugs me… but oh well.

The bird featured in the painting is one of my favourites, the red breasted nuthatch. I love how shy they are when I go outside to fill the feeder (or when other bigger birds are at the feeder), but manage to gather enough courage to land on the feeder with others present. There’s been times where I wondered if they were going to land on me instead of the feeder. Plus, they sound so cute! <333 I just love them a lot. ;U; Anyways, as well as really wanting to draw my favourite bird, this is also kind of a tribute to autumn... my favourite season, despite how cruel it feels to me sometimes. Oh, and I got to include more than colouring in my video this time (such as the line art stage) so please feel free to check it out~ Thanks for looking, and have a good week! : D
