Inktober 2017 – Day 25: Leave it to us!

25 October 2017

I watched last night’s Nintendo Direct for Animal Crossing, and I have to say, their new mobile game looks really, REALLY good. Though missing some things a Nintendo system would have (online multiplayer) it looks like a complete animal crossing, complete with all it’s charm and creativity.
It’s gonna be great!!

I’m looking forward to playing it when it comes out, but until then… here’s some fanart of the new Animal Crossing characters introduced in Pocket Camp – Beppe, Giovanni, and Carlo!

(Also, I seem to keep drawing crows this month HAHA…)

Inktober 2017 – Day 24: To Hear Your Voice

24 October 2017

Not much to say for today’s drawing – I wanted to draw something Mystic Messenger-related for Inktober, and my sister suggested I draw Seven on the phone with MC. ^^

Inktober 2017 – Day 23: Magic of Dawn

23 October 2017

I woke up before the sun had risen today – much earlier than I have been getting up recently.
(This time it was because my sister’s dog Sadie stole my blankets, HAHA) I actually love working on art in the early morning – I get a lot done! But before I got started on the day however, I turned on some fairy lights and when I compared them to the darkness outside the window, I felt inspired to draw this for day 23.

…I was really excited to watch the sun rise, but I got distracted drawing this instead. Oops.

Features Chise Hatori, from the currently running anime, The Ancient Magus Bride
’cause y’know, the magic thing. :P I’ve been wanting to draw her and it just fit.
I’m withholding judgement on the anime for now – there’s some things I do and don’t like about it, but it’s caught my interest the most out of the new animes this season.
However, I do hope Chise finds happiness in her story.

Inktober 2017 – Day 22: Sweetest Dreams

22 October 2017

Today I noticed that some of Jin’s music was on Spotify, so I decided to draw Seto and Mary from Kagerou Project for day 22. ^^ Not much else for me to say except I love these two so much and I’m happy with how it turned out~

Inktober 2017 – Day 21: Fairytale Romance

21 October 2017

I had other plans for inktober day 21, but Shevi informed me that it was Eli’s birthday today (from Love Live!), so I decided to draw Eli and Nozomi together wearing outfits from one of my favourite card sets. ^^ I haven’t drawn these two together before… like, ever. Weird.

Inktober 2017 – Day 20: Star Shower

20 October 2017

Something more cute to balance yesterday’s angsty picture!
I was a little inspired by the meteor shower that’s supposed to happen tonight. Plus, I’ve been wanting to try using washi tape to create a pleated skirt for a while now, so I combined the ideas~
Turned out a little weird but I also like it, so yeah. //shrugs

Inktober 2017 – Day 19: Dear Old Friend

19 October 2017

Okay so, this one might be confusing or even creepy unless you’ve watched or read Genroku Showa Rakugo Shinjuu – but I’ll see if I can explain the gist of it without spoilers:

This features Kikuhiko (the elderly man) and Sukeroku (the ghost), two men who as children were both adopted in the showa era to become apprentices for Rakugo – the traditional Japanese art of storytelling. They were childhood friends, like brothers, but also rivals.

I won’t say why or how, but Sukeroku dies a tragic early death. Kikuhiko feels intense guilt for the rest of his life (and that’s putting it lightly), even as decades pass and their generations continue. He sometimes he sees an apparition of his old friend, Sukeroku; which could either be 1) an actual apparition or 2) a metaphoric representation of him being haunted by his guilt.

However, I don’t believe Sukeroku would have held a grudge against Kikuhiko, so maybe he’s there to offer comfort (in my picture)… but with Kikuhiko complains instead. (A completely normal occurrence for them.)

…Have I intrigued anybody enough to watch this hidden gem yet?? :P It’s not a popular genre but it’s very interesting, full of drama, mystery, historic facts, romance and quality storytelling. It follows from the showa era to modern times, and how the art of Rakugo changes. It’s available on on Crunchyroll if anyone’s interested~

I personally wish I had watched it sooner. I put it off for maybe a year, and I watched it slowly because it dealt with dark subject matter such as death. But by the time I finished it, it had become a favourite of mine, and I wish other people would give it a chance too.

Inktober 2017 – Day 18: You’re so Mysterious

18 October 2017

No sleepless night caused by a wind storm could stop me from drawing fanart of my beloved Hyouka!

I’ve drawn Chitanda and Mayaka’s outfits before but not Oreki’s, so that was nice. His outfit is supposedly inspired by Gentleman Thief Arsene Lupin, just like the protagonist from Persona 5 so… he’s doing the glove-pulling thing that the protag does!

But yeah. When I was going through some scrapbooking paper I bought years ago, I started thinking this paper would suit the ending song “Kimi ni Matsuwaru Mystery”. I think it suits the historical/literature aesthetic well! Thooough… I probably should’ve saved the technique for a day when I wasn’t so sleep deprived, but I’m fairly happy with how this turned out anyways. ^^

Inktober 2017 – Day 17: Fly High

17 October 2017

The other day, I was standing outside with my sister’s dog and a crow flew overhead. I couldn’t help but think, “this would make a nice Haikyuu fanart.” and today I finally drew it. x’D

Shoyo Hinata in front of the Sakanoshita Shop! Not sure if the buildings are 100% correct but otherwise I’m very happy with how this one turned out. Maybe one of my favourites of the ones I’ve done so far? Besides my October 3rd drawing for FMA day, anyway.

Also happy to finally draw more Haikyuu fanart in general!! I remember thinking “Eh, I’m not really into sports or sports anime but I’ll give this a try”, but before episode 2 ended I was totally hooked.
I love the intense animation, expressive characters, competitiveness and analogies… I’ve only done a few sketches and also some button designs but… not much for illustrations or anything? So it was about time to change that!

Inktober 2017 – Day 16: Mayoral Duties

16 October 2017

“Where would you like to put this Public Works Project, Mayor?”

An Animal Crossing fanart of Isabelle and my main mayor for today’s inktober~
For my scan, I couldn’t get the whites to be very white without losing the light greys. :(
