Natsume Reiko

30 April 2017

Sketch of Reiko from Natsume’s Book of Friends. Tried making it look like it was drawn with pencil crayons and other traditional media, despite being digital.
Her kimono in the 6th opening looks so pretty, but also mysterious. I love it! <3

I really enjoyed this week’s episode, but honestly I’m really excited for the next one (Who am I kidding, I’m excited for every episode!). So far there’s been no mention of Reiko or the book… seems like that’ll change with the 4th episode though. Tuesday can’t come fast enough!! ;;

Thanks for looking and hope everyone had a great weekend~
I’m not exactly done drawing Natsume fanart but I’ll try and post something else soon too~

Patchwork Staccato

15 March 2017

“It’s time to put an end
To my patchwork time with you.”

[Patchwork Staccato by TOA]

Ever since my sister got Project Diva X (back when it was first released in Japan) this song has been one of my favourites in it. I love the aesthetics of the video and the song is so catchy~

This picture is a little different than my usuals, in terms of mood and colour scheme. I learned a lot working on it and it was really nice working on a new Vocaloid fanart after such a long time.
That said, I’m glad this is finished so I can move on to a new piece.
If you’re curious, I posted some detail shots on tumblr!

Thanks for looking and have a wonderful week~

May Our Fates Intertwine

27 August 2016

Hey everyone! Long time no post (oops).
I drew this back before Ai-kon, to experiment with Manga Studio’s 3D models and their manga perspective tools. I drew and coloured the characters in Manga Studio, but the background, special effects and corrections were made in Photoshop. It’s the most I’ve used Photoshop for in a very long time. It definitely has mistakes (and it was really hard to print correctly!) but I’m happy with how it turned out overall. ^^

If you would like to see a slightly larger version of this picture, please check my dA. Thanks!

LOZ: Lost in the Woods

5 June 2016

I have been working on this, on and off, for months now and I am so glad it’s finished. It had more than 100 layers and my computer was being quite slow while working on it (this is only about 14% of the actual size). I wanted to have this finished in April for the Expo, but I had trouble painting the rocks. Now that it’s finished, it will be available at Ai-kon next month~

Speaking of which, hey guys my sister, mom and I got our tables at Ai-kon (July 15-17)!
We are SUPER excited to be back and we’re working hard to prepare some new merch right now. We’ll be right near the entrance to the marketplace so be sure to stop by and say hello!!

Okay, now back to the picture lol. It has some weird parts to it, and I don’t think there’s any forests like this in Ocarina of Time, but I’m really proud of this. It’s been a long time since I’ve painted something this detailed, and I don’t recall any backgrounds I’ve put so much work into compared to this one. I learned a lot more about Manga Studio, textures and painting backgrounds. ……..That said, I don’t think I’m gonna be attempting something like this again any time soon. *phew*

Thanks for looking and have a great week everyone!!

I’d like to add some thanks to Malleni-stock at dA; I didn’t use any of her stock images exactly but was very inspired by them. I also used some references from senshistock at dA too, to understand Link’s pose better.

Wishing for You

4 March 2016

My contribution to SyaoSaku week 2016 on Tumblr. Particularly for day #4 – “fluff”.
It’s based off of the end of the Cardcaptor Sakura manga (when they’re slightly older). They’re just hanging out after school~! being cute/cheesy

Originally I intended to draw this as a single illustration, but it turned into a comic page instead. Whoops? It’s not perfect, but I do really like how it turned out~ Especially since it’s in colour, which is a nice change for comics. Though, I’m certainly not going to make a habit of drawing colour comics like this. ^^’

On another somewhat related note… I’m really looking forward to the new CCS manga that CLAMP is making for the anniversary. Ahhh, I wonder what it’ll be about~ <3 Thanks for looking and have a great week!

DrawPile Sketchdump 2015-2016

23 February 2016

Last year, a friend introduced me to DrawPile, a program where you can draw with your friends (or stream, through the program). I need to set it up better, but I just figured since I don’t have much I can post these days, I’d share some of the things I’ve drawn on there~

(They’re from late-2015 to early-2016, approximately oldest to newest)

Lots of fanart, but some originals too.
Towards the end I decided I didn’t feel like sketching, and just wanted to colour. Wasn’t easy, but it’s more comforting for me somehow~

Thanks for looking!!

Mist

16 November 2015

A few months ago, we had a couple days of thick fog, and I felt inspired to draw Yato from Noragami in such a setting because of his glowy eyes… but struggled on drawing him and the setting, so I dropped the idea.
Then last week we had another day of fog, and I told my sister about my previous idea and she said she wanted to see it. So I finally settled on drawing Yato in a tree (instead of my initial idea of an urban setting) and made this!

I didn’t spend as much time on it as I could have (I’ve been trying to put more effort into more drawing correct anatomy…) plus I used a default brush for the leaves, but I think it turned out nice considering. I actually drew some rough line art, added colours/shading/etc underneath, and then redrew it over top. I really like how Yato’s face turned out. : D

I’m hoping to draw more Noragami fanarts in the future, perhaps something a little less… dark. But it’s a really great series and deserves more love. I can’t wait to see how the rest of Noragami: Aragoto goes! *w*

Thanks for looking and have a great week everyone! <3

Summer Festival

26 August 2015

I was looking at some Kagepro fanarts and got the sudden urge to draw Seto and Mary in yukata. ^-^’ It’s still very rough, but I tried doing some new things with the shading and such…
This pairing is so cute <3 I gave Seto a leaf pattern on his yukata and Mary roses on hers, so they'd match somewhat. I drew the pattern for Mary myself. Thanks for looking and have a great week, everyone! Oh, and feel free to like this or my other artworks on my Facebook page!

Lost

3 August 2015

I’ve been feeling pretty rough these past few weeks; I haven’t felt like doing much of anything.
Recently I finally started feeling inspired to draw again – for myself and for work – and my productivity is finally catching up with the inspiration and motivation needed to create artwork.
It’s a nice feeling.

(I’ve also been neglecting my online messages – I’m very sorry if I’ve kept you waiting and I will respond soon.)

While not feeling well, my mom, sister and I watched Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Now we’re watching the first anime too. I’ve seen the first anime plenty of times, but it’s been a few years at least since I’ve watched the entire thing, so some scenes still managed to surprise me. I feel like I’m able to understand the anime better this time around.

We haven’t rewatched the movie, Conqueror of Shamballa, yet… but I felt like drawing that Edward again. Especially since the movie apparently reached it’s 10 year anniversary (though I haven’t known of it for that long :P). This picture has it’s issues, but it was supposed to be a quick one, so the anatomy is probably off and such. But I like the colours and textures since that’s different from how I usually paint~

I imagine this picture is sometime between the end of the anime and the start of the movie. ;v; Hopefully the next Edward I draw is a happy one!

Thanks for looking and have a great week! <3

JUMP!

24 February 2015

Last week, I was hired to do a promotional image for Scurry & Cover – the webcomic I’ve been doing mini comics for – and this is the result. C:
You guys might see advertisements featuring this artwork around the internet in the near future~!!

It’s a bit different than my usual. I think it’s my first time doing an abstract background like that in Manga Studio, especially for a CG-style character. Also, I tried to keep it cute and modern with a bit of traditional Japanese influence. It was fun to work on a coloured image of Nozomi for a change!

Another mini comic was uploaded to the www.scurry.ink site!
You can also now like the official Facebook page! :D

Thanks for looking everyone and have a great week! <3333
